It is REQUIRED that the candidate have prior pet care experience and can demonstrate a clear understanding of managing dogs in daycare settings along other needed skill sets to be successful. You must have experience managing groups of 20+ dogs in a daycare or boarding setting to be considered for this position. Job Title: Dog Handler

Location: Shady Acres Pet Ranch

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Additional Pay: Tips and Performance Bonuses

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week

About Us: Located on 3 beautiful acres of Brushy Creek frontage and shaded by 100-year-old oak trees, Shady Acres Pet Ranch offers a boarding experience unlike anything you’ve seen before. Our facility boards a very limited number of dogs, ensuring that each furry guest receives the personal love and attention they deserve. Our operations are relaxed and focused on creating a serene environment for our guests. Dogs spend their days running with friends on our securely fenced 3 acres, taking dips in our doggy pool, or lounging in shady meadows for afternoon naps. Life is good at Shady Acres!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care and supervision for dogs in our daycare and boarding facilities.

  • Maintain clean and safe environments for pets, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of play areas, kennels, and other facilities.

  • Must possess the ability to read dog behavior and effectively manage social groups of dogs.

  • Monitor and manage pet behavior to ensure a positive and harmonious environment.

  • Administer medications and follow specific care instructions as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ activities, behavior, and overall well-being.

  • Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of verifiable experience working in a dog daycare or boarding facility is required.

  • Proven ability to read dog behavior and manage social groups of dogs is essential.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of canine behavior, health, and safety.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both pets and their owners.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and walking dogs of various sizes.

  • A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being.

  • Physical demands include being active and moving with purpose. This role involves being on your feet and maintaining an energetic pace. It is not suited for those looking for an office environment or a sedentary role.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 12 PM or 2 PM

  • Occasional weekend shifts
