ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Registration

  • Completes accurate patient registration and demographic entry.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referrals prior to services.
  • Ensures all required patient documentation and consents are completed and maintained.
  • Maintains confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.

Scheduling Coordination

  • Coordinates and schedules patient procedures in collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff.
  • Confirms patient appointments and communicates pre-procedure instructions.
  • Maintains scheduling accuracy to optimize operating room efficiency and physician utilization.
  • Resolves scheduling conflicts and communicates changes appropriately.

Revenue Cycle Management

  • Assists with all phases of the revenue cycle including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Reviews and monitors aging reports to ensure timely reimbursement and account resolution.
  • Works with insurance carriers, patients, and providers to resolve billing discrepancies and denied claims.
  • Maintains knowledge of payer guidelines, billing requirements, and reimbursement processes.
  • Supports financial performance goals through accurate documentation and timely follow-up.

General Administrative Responsibilities

  • Answers phones, greets patients, and provides professional customer service.
  • Maintains organized records and documentation in accordance with facility policies.
  • Assists with reporting, audits, and additional business office functions as assigned.
  • Collaborates effectively with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care and operational efficiency.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility

High School diploma or GED required. College level accounting or business courses preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of patient service experience in a healthcare organization, preferably involving insurance billing, scheduling, registration, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle management.

Knowledge

Healthcare organization related knowledge and skill with patient registration, scheduling, accounts receivable, insurance billing, and revenue cycle management.
