What you'll do

• Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, Python, and GitHub Actions to manage Kubernetes
• Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades and implementing best practices.
• Document solutions, architectural patterns, and best practices around the Kubernetes environment
• Work with internal IT teams (Risk, Security, Compliance) to implement security policies on Kubernetes clusters.
• Implement observability solutions on Kubernetes and develop alerting and monitoring
• Tune cluster performance
• Set up and manage the networking plumbing for Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot Kubernetes issues related to resources deployed on the cluster
• Collaborate with internal application teams to best utilize Kubernetes
• Encourage an environment of sharing and team work among the team.
• Stay current with systems technology best practices and changing technologies, in order to maintain domain expertise and recommend enhancements or changes
• Support communication and response process by responding to users on system issues, maintenance, and system status, and advising and escalating on any prolonged or major issues
• Mandatory rotational schedule for on-call off-hours support

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• Kubernetes and platform engineering experience
• A strong understanding of DevOps philosophy and best practices
• 3 years of experience as a software developer, platform engineer, or infrastructure engineer

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• Azure or Kubernetes technical certifications, such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification
• 2+ years of Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service(AKS) with deep understanding of container orchestration and distributed system concepts
• 2+ years of experience implementing infrastructure as code

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Advanced ability to plan strategically for current and future business environments, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible, scalable solutions
• In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes
• Experience keeping production environments operating at peak performance on the cloud and in containers
• Experience managing production Kubernetes infrastructure with exposure to the use of cloud vendor Kubernetes solutions such as AKS
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and configuration as code built and deployment using CI/CD best practices. Working experience with GitHub/GitHub Actions and ArgoCD are preferred.
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio
• Experience with Observability technologies and optimizing monitoring using tools such as Prometheus, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Datadog
• Knowledge of Linux OS, network, and Azure PaaS solutions
