Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Junior SQL Database Administrator to join our IT team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, enhance your technical skills, and contribute to critical database operations. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of experience in SQL Server administration and a keen interest in automation, cloud technologies, and DevOps practices.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency.
• Support backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Participate in routine database maintenance tasks, such as updates and patch management.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and database designs.
• Document database configurations, processes, and any changes made.
• Ensure database security by managing access permissions and roles.
• Manage and optimize indexes to improve query performance.
• Identify and resolve blocking and deadlock issues to maintain database concurrency.
• Work with Azure SQL Managed Instances, including job automation.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Python to streamline administrative tasks.
• Debug and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for data integration processes.
• Utilize ServiceNow for ticketing, change management, and incident tracking.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to pipeline automation for database deployments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency in T-SQL and understanding of relational database concepts.
• Experience with index management and performance tuning techniques.
• Knowledge of blocking and deadlock resolution strategies.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL Managed Instances and related services.
• Knowledge of automation scripting using PowerShell and Python.
• Ability to debug and maintain SSIS packages.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT service management tools.
• Understanding of code review processes and CI/CD pipeline automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery options for SQL Server.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar.
