Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mechanical engineering design strategies that align with business goals and support construction operations.
• Lead and mentor teams of internal mechanical engineering staff and external partners to deliver efficient, resilient, and cost-effective mechanical systems for complex data center projects.
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of mechanical engineering design activities across all projects, ensuring adherence to performance, reliability, scalability, and sustainability requirements.
• Review and approve mechanical design documents, specifications, and calculations to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align mechanical design standards with overall project delivery objectives.
• Drive innovation in mechanical systems design, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
• Partner with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure mechanical designs support long-term operational efficiency.
• Monitor design progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Lead value engineering efforts to optimize costs without compromising reliability or quality.
• Establish and enforce mechanical design standards, quality protocols, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Cultivate strong relationships with clients, engineering firms, equipment vendors, and subcontractors.
• Negotiate mechanical engineering scopes, contracts, and pricing to secure favorable terms.
• Stay current with emerging mechanical technologies, cooling strategies, and data center design trends.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the mechanical engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) License (required).
• 10+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience, with a strong operational background in the construction or engineering industry (required).
• Proven experience leading mission-critical projects, specifically within the data center sector (required).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Expertise in mechanical systems design, project management, and value engineering.
