Job Title: Paralegal – Appellate Litigation

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Type of Employment: Contract-to-Hire (3–4 Month Contract Period) | 100% Onsite
Compensation: $31.00 – $33.50 / Hourly

Job Description
Addison Group is partnering with our client, a well-established civil litigation law firm in Downtown Fort Worth, to hire an experienced Appellate Paralegal. This role supports multiple attorneys and focuses on managing cases at the appellate level. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm experience in civil litigation and a strong understanding of appellate court procedures, deadlines, and formatting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth legal research related to appellate matters, including statutes, case law, and procedural rules
- Draft, revise, and proofread appellate briefs, motions, writs, and supporting documentation for attorney review
- Examine trial court records and transcripts to identify potential appellate issues and prepare case summaries
- Handle electronic and physical filings in county, state, and federal appellate courts, ensuring strict compliance with jurisdictional rules and deadlines
- Verify citations, formatting, and record references to meet appellate court standards
- Maintain case calendars, track critical deadlines, and organize case files throughout the appellate process
- Assist attorneys in preparing for oral arguments by compiling exhibits, organizing research materials, and assembling relevant authorities
Qualifications
- 3+ years of paralegal experience within a law firm environment (civil litigation required)
- Prior exposure to appellate court procedures strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with legal research and/or case management systems (e.g., LexisNexis or similar platforms)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in legal citations and formatting
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
