Texas History Curriculum Coordinator [PT]
POSITION INFORMATION:
The THCP Coordinator is a part-time, contracted Education & Programming position.
The basic responsibility of the Coordinator is to develop and administer curriculum and programming focused on themes of Texas (and specifically West Texas History) as referenced in museum collections [Sallie Reynolds Matthews Collection and Robert Nail Junior Archives.]
The THC&P Coordinator reports directly to both the Education Director & Archivist Regional History Chair, who make assignments in terms of broad program plans and objectives, and delegate independent responsibility for their accomplishment.
All OJAC full, part-time and contracted staff work under the general guidance of personnel policies and observe the museum’s Code of Ethics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Weekly facilitation of Traveling Trunk Program for area school campuses Grades 4-10
Monthly facilitation of one, virtual school-outreach program for audiences Grades 4-10
Annual development and facilitation of one Summer In-Service/Workshop for local social studies and history classroom teachers, presenting lesson plans and coordinating activities that visually or thematically reference museum collections
Identifies and contracts speakers for two, Texas History-themed lectures for adult audiences each year [Spring/ Fall]
Identifies and contracts instructors for two, Texas History or archival-themed workshops for adult audiences [Summer/ Winter]
REQUIREMENTS:
K-12 Education, History Education, Museum Studies, or like degree.
Some Classroom instruction experience required. Texas History instruction experience preferred.
Experience in curriculum writing required.
Proficiency in basic graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator) and desktop publishing.
Excellent writing, speaking, organizational, project management and interpersonal skills.
