Head of Engineering-Major Power Projects
- Build, lead and manage the Data Solution engineering team directly and manage interface between the different individual project lines, responsible for delivering engineering for proposals and projects and support to operations within time, quality and budget.
- Develop and ensure consistent and effective implementation of engineering standards and processes.
- Increase engineering efficiency and implement cost leadership with the adoption of new tools, systems and increased work-sharing with all other product lines.
- Develop and encourage engineering progression and upskilling through the SLB programs.
- Assign engineering resources to proposals, projects and operations support when required.
- Provide input as required to proposals with engineering execution plans and win strategies.
- Approve engineering execution plans and engineering histograms.
- Monitor and assess engineering performance, quality, and provide feedback for improvement.
- Define document control processes; monitor and guarantee their implementation.
- Engage with the global SLB engineering network.
- Participate in customer meetings as required by Sales to discuss engineering execution.
- Coach and develop engineers and engineering managers.
- Promote knowledge shared through lessons learn, InTouch and other SLB programs.
- Provide technical advice and support to the engineering team, and other functions as required.
- Assess team skills/competencies and create individual development plans.
- Monitor resource loading and develop action plans for staffing as required.
- Participate in the recruitment process and undertake interviews as required.
- Review and update practices, procedures and forms required for engineering execution.
- Undertake audits and gate reviews on proposals and projects.
- Support supply-chain with technical audits and development of sub-suppliers and fabricators.
- Rollout out new engineering processes and software.
- Define and update Job Descriptions for Project Engineering Managers / Project Engineers, Engineers, Designers and Drafters.
- Develop relations with third party engineering companies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering - further education is preferred. PE designation is an asset.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in major EPC project engineering management related to power plants, ideally within the gas to power and thermal power plants.
- Previous experience building engineering team and staffing the engineering department from the ground up.
- Previous experience managing multiple EPC projects engineering design packages in accordance with engineering standards and practices.
- Experience leading the engineering function during all phases of the project from tender to delivery ideally with expertise in power plants.
- Deep knowledge of engineering standards and practices leads to safe and compliant designs.
- Experience coaching and training the engineering team and junior Engineering managers.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team and thrive for the success of the projects.
- Candidates must be able to work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
