Cash Applications Specialist
- Accurately apply daily cash receipts, including checks, wire transfers, ACH and credit card payments to customer accounts in SAP
- Ensure that payments are posted in accordance with company policies and procedures, minimizing errors and discrepancies
- Regularly reconcile customer accounts, resolving unapplied cash, deductions and discrepancies
- Collaborate with the collections team to resolve payment disputes and ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances
- Communicate effectively with customers to obtain payment remittance details, resolve payment discrepancies and address any inquiries related to account balances
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to customer inquiries
- Generate and analyze daily, weekly and monthly cash application reports to monitor trends, identify issues and ensure the accuracy of the cash application process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all cash application activities, including payment receipts, customer communications and reconciliation records
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the cash application process, including automation and system enhancements within SAP
- Collaborate with the IT and finance teams to implement best practices and optimize system functionality
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for cash application activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
- 3+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable or a related role
- Proficiency in SAP is required, with hands-on experience in the cash application module
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and cash application procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
