Strategic Business Development Lead (Bird Electric)
Job Summary
Bird Electric, a Black & Veatch company, is a U.S. self-perform electrical construction services provider with a national reach in emergency power restoration. With more than 600 employees, Bird Electric delivers grid solutions and operates in adjacent distributed infrastructure markets. The company also has long-established relationships with fuel producers and energy providers.
The Strategic Business Development Lead initiates, develops, and manages new business. This position is accountable for meeting sales targets, allocates resources, identifies and tracks prospects and teaming strategies, assists in the planning, developing, and coordinating of prospect-captures, proposal development, and client relations initiatives.
Oil & Gas and/or Electrical Construction Services Provider experience is a must have.

Key Responsibilities
- Initiates, maintains, and cultivates strategic relationships relative to the sector's client base.
- Develops strategic account plans for targeted clients to meet or exceed desired new business.
- Supports prospect capture and proposal development initiatives.
- Supports business development client relations initiatives.
- Develops and builds relationships with multiple sources and contacts both internally and with clients.
- Represents Company at industry trade shows, conferences, association meetings, and committee hearings.
- Creates presentation materials for various internal meetings.
- Coordinates client interface activities to ensure sales efforts are carried out to execute the strategic account plans leading to new projects and increased scope of work for existing projects

- Bachelor's degree desired.
- Strong knowledge and overall understanding of industry; knowledge of industry business drivers and motivators; exhibits high ethical standards in business and in work
- Maintains a reputation of integrity among clients.
- Proposal and general contract negotiating skills which includes knowledge of terms, risks, pricing, and payment terms.
- Excellent communications/human relations and presentation skills (written, verbal, client service); ability to maintain key relationships.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to think quickly and anticipate questions when interfacing with clients.
- Ability to sell; strong negotiating and persuasive skills.
- Ability to interface with diverse personalities.
- Ability to travel.
- Multi-tasking ability (prioritize, organize, schedule work).
- Good problem-solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve)
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years' experience including 5+ years energy industry experience.
- Strong Oil & Gas and/or Electrical Services Provider knowledge and business development exerience.
