Quality Supervisor

Job Summary

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that electrical components, assemblies, and systems meet quality standards and specifications in the manufacturing process. They perform detailed inspections, tests, and evaluations to identify defects, deviations, and non-conformities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Job Functions

  • Supervise, train and mentor quality inspectors and technicians
  • Schedule workloads, delegate tasks and conduct performance evaluations
  • Conduct thorough inspections of electrical components, subassemblies, and finished products to verify conformity to design specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Perform functional tests, electrical tests, and performance evaluations using specialized equipment and instruments. Analyze test results and data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Identify and document defects, discrepancies, and non-conformities in assemblies and components. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results, test reports, and quality documentation. Generate inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality metrics to track performance and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control processes, procedures, and work instructions throughout the assembly and production process. Provide guidance and training to production staff on quality requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate incoming materials, components, and parts for quality and reliability. Perform supplier audits and quality assessments to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, defect prevention, and cost reduction initiatives. Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist and develop procedures, work instructions, and any other quality-related documentation to standardize the manufacturing process.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems (QMS) applicable to electrical assembly and manufacturing. Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 9001, IPC, UL, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Monitor and address customer feedback, complaints, and quality issues. Collaborate with customer service and support teams to resolve quality-related issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in quality inspection, quality control, or quality assurance in the electrical assembly or electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical components, circuits, and systems.
  • Knowledge of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA).
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, measurement tools, and inspection techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Other Information

The Quality Supervisor may be located at any branch and reports to the Quality Manager. Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, with OT as needed. Physical demands are moderate and typically require the following: 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of 50 or more lbs is required.

Training

Quality Supervisor training is to be carried out at any branch location necessary. The Quality Manager is responsible for the Quality Supervisor's training. Training will be carried out by the Quality Manager.

The following tasks shall be initially trained on the Quality Supervisor function:

  • Follow assembly specifications to fabricate and assemble electrical components
  • Verifying all measuring components
  • Reporting defective non-conforming materials or questionable conditions
  • Properly completing a non-conformance report
  • Performing supplier assessments
  • Assist with internal audits

The Quality Supervisor shall be trained on the following software, as needed:

  • MS Outlook
  • P21
  • Wrike

The following PPE shall be required by the Quality Supervisor:

  • Steel-toe boots in a warehouse
  • Safety Glasses in the appropriate areas of the warehouse
