Utilities Tradesperson / Technician / Senior Technician
- Maintain a high standard of safety, conduct, and job performance.
- Perform normal repair and maintenance activities on the utility systems that meet local, state, and federal regulations.
- Complete work assignments as directed and assist with repairs with supervision and direction.
- Use preventative maintenance and repair procedures to extend equipment life, and aid in the reliability and effectiveness of all utility field operation departments and activities.
- Participate in on-the-job training of the proper use of tools, equipment, inventory, and utility safety.
- Demonstrate the ability to use technical skills and knowledge during the performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrate the proficient use of hand tools during the performance of assigned duties.
- Identify jobsite hazards and take preventive action for the protection of crew members and the general public.
- Relay any customer complaint to the Crew Leader or Field Supervisor.
- Perform other tasks as may be required.
- Must be available to work nights, weekend, and holidays beyond normal shift as required Must be available for rotating on call duties
- Ability to complete normal repair, maintenance activities on the drinking water distribution, and/ or sanitary sewer collection systems.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and aide Utility Technicians and Crew Leaders with complex utility repairs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with superiors and crewmembers regarding assigned task and the proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to use all tools necessary for the daily maintenance and operation of the distribution and collection system.
- General knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for the proper operation and maintenance of a drinking water distribution and wastewater collection system.
- Ability to perform duties other than those previously listed as may be required.
- High School Diploma or GED,
- Valid State of Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to obtain Class D Water and Class I Wastewater Certifications within 1 year.
- Must be able to obtain a Class C Water License issued by TCEQ within 3 years.
- Must be able to obtain a Class II Wastewater Collection License issued by TCEQ within 3 years.
- Class C Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection II Licenses
- Class A Commercial Drivers License
- Ability to repair, maintain and operate drinking water distribution, and/ or sanitary sewer collection systems.
- Ability to use and transport heavy equipment for the repair and maintenance of the utility system.
- Ability to effectively communicate with superiors and crewmembers regarding assigned task and the proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to use all equipment necessary for the daily maintenance and operation of the distribution and collection system.
- Ability to, with no supervision, work stand-by and complete emergency repairs on the water and sewer system.
- Intermediate knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for the proper operation and maintenance of a drinking water distribution and wastewater collection system.
- Ability to perform duties other than those previously listed as required.
- High School Graduate.
- Water Distribution Class C and Waste Water Collection II issued through TCEQ.
- Three years of utility field maintenance experience.
- Valid Class A State of Texas commercial driver’s license.
- Evidence of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability, and responsibility necessary to perform job requirements.
- A minimum of one-year of utility field maintenance experience.
- Evidence of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability, and responsibility necessary to perform job requirements.
- High School Graduate certified in the operation of both water distribution or wastewater collection systems by the TCEQ, and a minimum of 18 months of utility field maintenance experience.
- Valid State of Texas commercial driver’s license.
- Evidence of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability, and responsibility necessary to perform job requirements.
