Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will support Matternet’s core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely transaction processing, and compliance with tax and reporting requirements. This role will manage supplier administration, accounts payable activities, routine reconciliations, and tax compliance support, playing a key role in maintaining strong financial controls as the company scales.
Responsibilities:
- Manage vendor setup and maintenance, including invoice processing and inquiry resolution
- Monitor AP inboxes and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items
- Post and reconcile credit card and bank transactions
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end close
- Clear routine reconciling items and maintain supporting schedules
- Prepare and submit use tax, local tax, and 1099 filings
- Assist with corporate and state tax compliance and maintain filing calendars
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable or general ledger functions
- Experience with transaction processing, reconciliations, and month-end close support
- Familiarity with tax compliance filings (use tax, property tax, 1099 reporting)
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems/ERP platforms
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent organizational and communication skills

Compensation: The expected base salary range for this role is $65,000–$88,000, based on San Francisco Bay Area market data. This range reflects the target starting pay for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the role. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your experience, skills, level, location, and potential impact.
Total Rewards: In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for equity along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; flexible spending accounts (FSA); flexible paid time off; company holidays; and a 401(k) plan.
