Student Pastor

Basic Function: Provide leadership and direction in ministering to our students and parents.

Specific Responsibilities:

Related to Student Ministry

1. Plan and lead weekly Bible studies and student worship services.

2. Welcome students on Sunday mornings and facilitate opening session.

3. Recruit, train, and equip student ministry leaders to disciple students.

4. Select and implement Bible study curriculum for Sunday morning small groups.

5. Help cultivate an atmosphere for students and families to grow in their faith.

6. Organize outreach events, such as team meals, dodgeball tournaments, and other evangelism efforts.

7. Oversee and engage in partnerships with school organizations, promoting community engagement.

8. Build relationships with schools, attending students’ activities, when possible, to expand ministry reach.

9. Oversee and help develop student worship team.

10. Advise students and families when needed.

11. Facilitate occasional parent meetings to communicate ministry goals, upcoming events, and ways to engage their student’s spiritual growth.

12. Communicate with parents to keep them informed of student ministry events, needs, and opportunities.

13. Plan and lead annual discipleship events, such as Disciple Now and retreats.

14. Organize and lead student camp each summer.

15. Plan and lead annual mission trip opportunities for students.

16. Oversee and manage the student ministry’s online presence, including website, social media, etc.

17. Encourage students to serve and participate with overall church family.

18. Collaborate with other staff members to accomplish church-wide ministry efforts as a team.

19. Serve as the ministry liaison between the church and organizations such as Trail Life.

20. Attend monthly Deacon meetings as needed.

21. Fill the pulpit when needed.

22. Participate in church-wide worship services and encourage student involvement.

Related to administration:

1. Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions.

2. Develop annual budget for student ministry and work within that budget.

3. Plan and coordinate student ministry calendar in cooperation with church-wide calendar.

4. Oversee and maintain student ministry room.

5. Supervise student ministry interns.
