Role
Were looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to join and lead a team of engineers responsible for building and enhancing the runZero platform. This role reports directly to our CEO and is a player-coach role where you will guide development efforts support team career growth and frequently contribute to complex technical work.
Success in this position requires strong technical leadership experience in project dependency mapping excellent communication skills an eye for detail and a commitment to fostering a supportive engineering culture rooted in ownership and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee planning prioritization and execution of engineering work across backend frontend APIs and platform components
- Mentor and grow a team of engineers through coaching regular 1:1s and career development planning
- Lead by example by contributing directly to platform development (Go) database design (PostgreSQL) user experience () infrastructure (AWS) and architectural decisions
- Partner closely with internal teams to produce excellent customer outcomes through well-scoped engineering work and clear delivery plans
- Drive high engineering standards for quality performance and security through code reviews technical guidance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure reliable predictable delivery of features and platform enhancements.
- Coordinate the triage and remediation of bugs reported by customers and field teams
- Respond to and coordinate remediation for urgent issues across infrastructure databases and product with a focus on customer value
Requirements
- 3 years of people management experience
- Strong proficiency in Go and experience working with large complex Go codebases
- Experience developing modern backend services REST APIs data models and performant system architectures
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL SQL optimization and relational data design
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred) Linux Git CI/CD workflows and modern software development practices
- Hands-on leadership style with a proactive problem-solving mindset and strong work ethic
- Experience in exposure management asset inventory vulnerability scanning fingerprinting or network discovery is a strong plus but not required
- Experience with single-page application development and in particular is a benefit but not a requirement
Salary
runZero values transparency in the hiring process. According to our market data we expect this role to fall within a salary range of $170000-$225000 based on specific skills and experience. We know that the talent market is always in flux so please let us know if you believe we have advertised this role in the wrong salary band. We also provide equity to all employees.

- A final interview conducted either remotely or in-person if we havent yet met face-to-face in previous rounds
