looking for an entry-level CAD Drafter/Estimator position, employers usually look for:

• High school diploma or GED; a drafting certificate or associate degree is helpful.
• Basic experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, measurements, and specifications.
• Basic construction or manufacturing knowledge.
• Strong math skills, including measurements, fractions, decimals, and material calculations.
• Basic Excel and computer skills.
• Ability to prepare simple drawings, material takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and willingness to learn.
• Reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines.
