This role will provide hands-on experience in traditional naval architecture and advanced autonomous technologies, driving impact in defense innovation.This internship is ideal for students pursuing Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, and Ocean Engineering, or a related field, and eager to make an impact in the defense tech industry. All interns will be supported and mentored by experienced Naval Architects.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design, development, and analysis of vessel hull forms, structures, and systems for ASVsConduct hydrodynamic and stability calculations, including resistance, propulsion, and maneuvering simulationsCollaborate with senior engineers to perform CAD modeling, structural design, and weight management for vessel optimizationSupport the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designsAssist in conducting model tests and validation in collaboration with engineers and programmersParticipate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions for new and existing vessel conceptsResearch and stay updated on new developments in naval architecture, autonomous technology, and defense requirementsSupport documentation, technical writing, and preparation of reports for internal use and client presentationsQualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related fieldBasic knowledge of naval architecture principles, including ship design, stability, and hydrodynamicsFamiliarity with CAD software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., Orca3D, ANSYS, or equivalent)This role requires full-time in office presence (40 hours/week) based at our headquarters in Austin, TX or Franklin, LA, from August through DecemberPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional standing and walking within the officeManual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipmentVisual acuity to read screens, documents, and reportsOccasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office suppliesLifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)If this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status.
