Description
YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a General Office Clerk, you will play an integral role in helping all clients become self-sufficient.
Essential Functions:
- Provide and conduct intake and orientation to eligible clients
- Determine eligibility based on income and other variables.
- Utilize program guidelines to request clients' cash assistance in a timely fashion.
- Counsel clients regarding program requirements.
- Prepare materials needed to monitor compliance of RCA clients.
- Request compliance information from Employment Case Managers on a monthly basis.
- Maintain data collected from Employment Case Managers.
- Be familiar with RCA compliance guidelines.
- Prepare RCA Applications
- Prepare the RCA/Employment Compliance form
- Ensure the accuracy of information in all data systems
- Participate in the acceptance process and provide clients with appointments in a timely manner
- Prepare H-1036 and any other relevant forms or letters for Case Management department per guidelines.
- Disburse cash assistance to clients per program guidelines
- Data entry of financial information into all data systems.
- Responsible for requesting a transfer from other states in a timely manner, when applicable
- Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.
- Participate in Food Pantry activities and Distribution.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Highly developed computer skills;
- Ability to effectively manage time and resources;
- Team player, self-motivated, responsive, and excellent trouble-shooter;
- Bachelor's Degree or relative experience;
- Previous clerical/office experience helpful;
- Preference will be given to applicants with relevant refugee languages. Spanish speaker preferred at the moment.
Outcomes
- All eligible clients served in a professional and timely manner
- Ability to conduct up to 150 new intakes per week.
- Financial assistance available to clients on specified due dates.
- Client files are current and provide a complete picture of services provided.
This position is grant-funded.
Note: All positions are filled in response to current refugee arrivals and their language needs; as language needs change, this will necessitate flexibility in our staffing
