Production Associate

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Production Associate to support seed processing, packaging, equipment operation, inventory, and quality control in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment in Lubbock, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for candidates with hands-on production, agricultural, mechanical, or plant operations experience who enjoy active work and take pride in safety, accuracy, and product quality.

The Production Associate will work as part of a collaborative plant team focused on meeting production goals while maintaining strong safety and quality standards. Candidates can expect a structured production environment, supportive leadership, teamwork, and the opportunity to build experience with seed treatment, automated equipment, inventory processes, and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate manual and automated seed counting, treating, sampling, bagging, and packaging equipment.
- Monitor seed counts, bag weights, labeling, barcodes, bag appearance, and overall product quality.
- Enter production data and plant monitoring information accurately and on time.
- Perform basic equipment setup, cleanup, changeovers, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
- Support inventory counts for seed, bags, treatment chemicals, carryover inventory, blending, and seed count verification.
- Follow OSHA safety standards, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and all site safety procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $19 to $20 per hour.
- Job type: Contract, 6 months to start with possibility of extension.
- Location: Lubbock, TX 79403.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM with $1.00 per hour shift differential.
- Must be flexible to work either shift. Shift assignment will be determined during the interview.
- Overtime may be required as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Operate seed treating, seed counting, bagging, sampling, and packaging equipment.
- Perform production quality checks, including seed counts, bag weights, labeling, barcodes, and product appearance.
- Support mechanical setup, cleanup, changeovers, basic maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
- Assist with inventory counts, blending operations, carryover inventory, and seed count verification.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, seed production, seed conditioning, ginning, agricultural operations, mechanical work, farm operations, or a related environment.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform basic repairs.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space Entry.
- Ability to lift, stack, and move bags weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, teamwork, and dependability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience with seed treatment, seed processing, seed conditioning, or agricultural production equipment.
- Experience operating automated bagging, palletizing, sampling, or warehouse production equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking, production data entry, and quality assurance sampling processes.
- Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing, agricultural, or plant operations environment.
