Product Manager -User Interaction
Apptronik is building robots for the real world to improve human quality of life and to help solve the ever-increasing labor shortage problem. You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Product, this role will focus on defining and prioritizing the features and systems that shape the interactive nature of our humanoids. As these robots begin working outside of the lab, your role will ensure our humanoids are approachable, effective, and ready for dynamic human environments.
You’ll partner closely with industrial design, user experience, and engineering teams to identify interaction opportunities, translate user and stakeholder needs into product requirements, and guide the development of features that make our robot blend seamlessly into both industrial and public facing environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Drive and maintain product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives and market demands.
- Engage with stakeholders (engineering, training, and customers) to ensure our robot addresses practical, real-world needs.
- Identify and prioritize enhancements across the entire software stack—from low-level hardware integration to high-level application services.
- Prioritize features that enhance multi-modal communication, conversational interfaces and safety protocols.
- Work with industrial design, user experience, and engineering teams to conceptualize and implement interactive features.
- Collaborate with user experience to ensure that interactions with our robots are intuitive, context-aware, and adaptable to various user interactions.
- Engage directly with users and stakeholders to uncover needs and expectations, and translate those insights into product requirements, workflows, and concepts of operation.
- Develop and maintain detailed training materials and documentation to clearly communicate product features and best practices.
- Leverage OKRs to set clear definitions of “done” and drive accountability across cross-functional teams.
- Translate product features and enhancements into detailed requirements documents, diagrams, and concise verbal communication for engineering teams.
- Support product marketing initiatives and partner relationships to accelerate the adoption and market penetration of the platform.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in product management, operations, or engineering roles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to translate technical insights into business impact.
- You make decisions in uncertainty, prioritizing velocity over perfection.
- Experience with agile methodologies in B2B product environments.
- Background in robotics, automation, AI/ML training, or industrial technologies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in performance tracking and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong understanding of user experience design including conversational interfaces.
- Passion for developing intuitive, engaging, and safe products in cutting-edge technology environments.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with robotic teleoperation
- Experience in working with customers in light and heavy duty industrial environments
- Experience with robotics standards such as ISO 10218-1, TS 15066, RIA R15.06
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate
