ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

The developmental chemist role is responsible for development and implementation of new technology. This includes focus on both analytical and process chemistry support in troubleshooting, technical guidance and recommendations to business functions. In addition, this role will help build the process chemistry support network across multiple technology organizations, research and site resources to build fundamental knowledge. This role is expected to interface with global key stakeholders in the business, site, and experts across technology and research.

What you will do

  • Enhance process knowledge by building fundamental and mechanistic chemistry knowledge across the platform (ie. Process and product) and apply this to troubleshooting support
  • Holistically understand the technology process including process chemistry insights and fundamental understanding from feed to products
  • Foster process chemistry competency and understanding in new technology platforms by defining and helping develop competency in support lab roles (internal technology and research labs, manufacturing site labs, 3P labs)
  • Provide continuity point between the research, technology and manufacturing start up implementation teams
  • Interface with relevant process technical experts and/or product development technical experts

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry from a recognized university, or MS in Chemistry with mix of technology and manufacturing 5-10 years of industrial experience
  • Broad experience on analytical techniques
  • Extensive experience in benchtop skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of representing the company to external entities
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks with adaptability to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Process chemistry experience (ie. support troubleshooting from manufacturing or technology role) preferred
  • High initiative, with high drive to identify technical gaps, developing path forward and communicating with broad audience
