This Software Development Engineer III position reports to the Data Quality Platform Engineering team, which is responsible for designing and building the Data Quality Platform to support EG’s data quality needs, integrated with our extensive Data Platform. As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the new Data Quality Platform, establishing standards, and mentoring engineers on coding best practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and evolve platform services and tooling that enable secure, reliable, and scalable software delivery across multiple product and infrastructure domains.

  • Develop, extend, and maintain backend components, APIs, and data models for platform capabilities, ensuring clear contracts, disciplined versioning, and effective integration patterns for internal customers.

  • Lead and contribute to system and low-level design for complex platform features, including API design, data modeling, and integrations with underlying infrastructure, observability, and deployment systems.

  • Drive high standards of operational excellence by improving reliability, performance, monitoring, and automation for platform services, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate closely with partner engineering teams to understand their needs, onboard them to platform solutions, and ensure platform features are broadly reusable, well-documented, and easy to adopt across multiple domains.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes for platform capabilities, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one modern programming language and ecosystem commonly used for backend or platform engineering, with strong understanding of system design (including low-level design), API design, and data modeling.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and operating backend or platform services in production environments, with ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing operation) across a multi-service or multi-team environment.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and the ability to safely integrate AI/ML‑enabled capabilities into engineering solutions under established patterns and guardrails.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Java and TypeScript in production environments.

  • Background working with data-centric systems such as data platforms, data pipelines, data quality tools, or data catalogs.

  • Familiarity with event-driven or streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and microservices architecture.

  • Exposure to AI/ML tools or platforms and an interest in applying AI to improve developer workflows, testing, or data quality.

  • Prior experience in large-scale consumer tech, travel, marketplace, or cloud platform environments.
