Product Design Engineer (AI)
Product Design Engineer (AI)
Dallas, TX | Full-time
Reports to Co-founder/CTO
Why this role exists
We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer who can turn powerful AI capabilities into experiences that actually make sense to real people. Someone who doesn’t just design screens, but thinks through the full workflow, from prompt logic to frontend interaction to user trust.
This isn’t a “make it look good in Figma” role. It’s about ownership. From early ideas to something real, shipped, and used.
What you’ll own
AI Product Experience (end-to-end)
- You’ll design and ship AI-powered workflows that move beyond mockups and into production.
- Take complex backend logic and translate it into interfaces that feel intuitive, trustworthy, and scalable.
- Help users understand what the AI is doing, why it’s making certain recommendations, what it knows, and what they should do next.
- You’ll work closely with engineering to ensure what’s designed is actually buildable, and built well.
Rapid experimentation & iteration
- You’ll run tight prototype → feedback → iteration cycles. Test interaction patterns. Refine prompts. Improve clarity. Repeat.
- You’ll move ideas from concept to live feature, while holding a high bar for quality.
Cross-functional alignment
- You’ll work side-by-side with Engineering and Product to align on priorities and sequencing.
- Advocate for thoughtful AI-native design standards, and influence without relying on title or authority.
- Balance customer feedback with technical constraints and business realities.
Design systems & scalability
As we grow, consistency matters.
- You’ll help build reusable interaction patterns for AI-driven features
- You’ll contribute to design standards that make the software faster and better with every release.
What success looks like in your first 90 days
- You’ve shipped 1–2 real AI workflows into production.
- Prototype-to-production cycles feel smoother and more structured.
- There’s less back-and-forth rework between design and engineering.
- AI outputs feel clearer and more intuitive to users.
- We’ve started forming repeatable standards around AI interaction patterns.
The profile that tends to win here
- You’re self-directed and don’t need constant guidance.
- You think in systems, not just screens.
- You’re analytical and enjoy unpacking complex workflows.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity, especially in AI contexts where not everything is defined.
- You care deeply about shipping real product outcomes, not just polished artifacts.
- You can influence engineers and product partners through clarity and conviction.
- You move quickly , but not carelessly.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in Product Design, Product Engineering, or similar cross-functional product roles.
- Experience shipping AI-powered or data-intensive product workflows.
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture and how engineering teams build and ship.
- Demonstrated ability to prototype quickly and deliver production-ready experiences.
- Experience operating in startup or fast-moving environments preferred.
Compensation + benefits
- Competitive base salary
- Performance bonus
- Equity
- Health, dental, vision
Opportunity to shape the AI-native product experience inside a fast-scaling, mission-driven company.
