Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to lead automation projects for a dynamic industrial automation firm. This role requires expertise in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/DeltaV systems, along with project management capabilities. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and commission control systems while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring project profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement control system architectures (PLC, DCS, HMI/SCADA).
- Develop schematics, panels, and network designs (under 480VAC).
- Lead project execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and profitability.
- Commission systems on-site and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Manage client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical/Control, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field)
- Licensure: PMP certification a plus
- Experience:
- 8+ years in industrial automation (PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS/DeltaV).
- 2-3 years minimum with Emerson DeltaV platform.
- Experience in PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
- Project management for systems up to $10M.
- Technical Skills:
- PLC platforms: Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon
- HMI/SCADA: Ignition, FactoryTalk, Aveva, GE iFIX
- Programming: Ladder Logic, Structured Text, VBA, SQL, Python
- Industrial networking: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus
- Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, client relations, and team mentorship
