  • This job is a member of the Operations Administration team within the Customer and Operational Excellence organization supporting Airports, Contact Centers, and Inflight Dining Operations.
  • Responsible for the management of team members on various leaves of absences. Coaching and counseling team members and members of management regarding policies and procedures associated with Return-to-Work releases, Medical, Family, Maternity, Personal and On the Job Injury Leaves of Absences.
  • Apply structured planning and advanced analytics—including AI-driven methodologies—to optimize leave management and return to work processes, while driving continuous improvement through innovative, centralized strategies. This role empowers you to shape the future of operations administration at American Airlines through collaboration, best practices, and forward-thinking solutions.

What you'll do

  • Supports team members on all leaves of absences, including non-illness related leaves
  • Acts as Subject Matter Experts on questions regarding Return-to-Work releases, Medical, Family, Maternity, Personal and On the Job Injury Leaves
  • Point of contact for On-the-Job Injuries working with claim adjustors
  • Liaison between the Absence and Return Center and team members
  • Administers Return to Work releases, Medical, Family, Maternity, Personal and On the Job Injury Leaves and follow up with applicable documentation
  • Facilitates Reasonable Accommodation Requests in partnership with Human Resources
  • Initiates claims for disability with MetLife
  • Fields incoming phone calls, emails and questions from team members and administrative team
  • Conducts investigations, responds to unemployment claims and attends hearings
  • Upholds a strong commitment to enhance both internal and external customer focus
  • Provides support for APS requests and acts as liaison to the APS product owner
  • Works closely with Human Resources/Team Member Services to ensure understanding and proper application of policies and procedures
  • Maintains working relationship with the Union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Ensures enforcement of all company policies and guidelines while fostering a positive work environment
  • Some travel may be required

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 2 years in a leadership capacity (e.g. Manager, Supervisor, Lead, Instructor)



Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Leave of Absence experience
  • Knowledge of American Airlines Attendance Policy
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Absence and Return Center
  • Experience with labor relations or previously led a team in a Union environment

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership capacity, strong leadership skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
