Utility Practice Leader – Technical Presales (Gas, Water, Electricity)

HCLTech ERS is seeking a seasoned Utility Practice Leader to drive transformation initiatives across North America’s utility sector. This strategic, client-facing role blends technical presales, domain consulting, and sales enablement. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SCADA, Asset Management, Smart Metering, and Billing, preferably from a service organization or utility company.

Responsibilities

• Act as a domain specialist advising clients on strategic initiatives across water, gas, and electricity sectors.
• Tailor solutions to align with customer goals and regulatory frameworks (NERC, FERC, EPA, state-level).
• Support North American sales hunters with technical presales and solutioning.
• Lead RFP responses and develop business-aligned proposals.
• Drive revenue growth tied to a $5M net new quota.
• Provide technical leadership across project lifecycles.
• Collaborate with OEMs and technology partners to co-create value propositions.
• Ensure delivery excellence and mentor engineering teams.
• Industry Advocacy & Thought Leadership — Represent HCLTech ERS at industry events and forums.
• Maintain a “blue book” of niche players and consultancies for potential partnerships.
• Stay current with industry trends through benchmarking and research.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering; MBA preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in utilities with strong exposure to U.S. regulatory bodies.
• Proven success in customer-facing roles and strategic deal closures.
• Asset Performance Management
• Smart Metering & Billing Systems
• Regulatory Operations (NERC, FERC, EPA)

Preferred Certifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• PEC Fellowship or equivalent industry accolades

Candidate Profile

• Business-savvy communicator
• Background in service organizations or direct utility operations
• Comfortable working remotely and interfacing with clients across major utility hubs

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $106,000 per year

Pay Range Maximum: $161,000 per year

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
