JOB SUMMARY
Performs entry-level parole administration work. Work involves providing supervision to inmates;conducting parole investigations; and obtaining information for and preparing paroleadministrationdocumentation. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative andindependent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Schedules and conducts interviews with inmates to obtain information, explain the paroleprocess, and deliver notices of parole panel action; compiles documents, analyzes information,and prepares reports to include case summaries; and performs data entry, retrieval, and datasearches.
- Screens sentenced inmates for special programs; verifies parole eligibility dates; participates inscreening, interviewing, and release processing of parole prospects; and coordinates andcommunicates inmate information with staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, andthe public.
- Prepares responses to correspondence, inquiries, and inmate requests following establishedprocedures regarding confidential information; and responds to inquiries from inmates and thepublic in person, telephonically, and in writing.
- Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safetycriminal history system access.
- Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Education, Experience, and Training
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized bythe Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Departmentof Education (USDE). Each year of experience as described below may be substituted forthirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis witha maximum substitution of two years.
- Experience in case work, criminal justice, military, or a related field preferred.
- Computer operations experience preferred.
- Must have a valid state driver license.
Must maintain valid license(s) for continued employment in position.
- Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas LawEnforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from theTexas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date.
