UPS Technician III (Travel)
Join a leading provider of critical power solutions as a UPS Technician III (Travel 50%), based in the Dallas, TX area. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about ensuring the reliability and performance of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and battery systems. As a key member of the field service team, you will perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance on a variety of UPS systems. Responsibilities
- Perform UPS system replacements, new installations, startups, certifications, and scheduled maintenance for UPS and battery systems.
- Diagnose and repair all types of UPS systems, including emergency repairs, with minimal disruption to customers.
- Lead projects and supervise crews of varying skill levels, ensuring safety and productivity on job sites.
- Collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers.
- Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials and consumables needed for project completion.
- Monitor crew safety and productivity, taking action when conditions may impact performance or well-being.
- Foster a positive team environment and mentor junior technicians by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with internal teams and clients.
- Ensure regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
- Electrical and mechanical experience with UPS systems, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson).
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
- Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
- Understanding of torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of installations.
- Ability to operate safely and use appropriate PPE, including arc-flash suits.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 30-hour certification, NFPA-70E Safety Training, and Thermography Level 2 or higher.
- US Citizenship required.
