UPS Technician III (Travel)

Responsibilities

• Perform UPS system replacements, new installations, startups, certifications, and scheduled maintenance for UPS and battery systems.
• Diagnose and repair all types of UPS systems, including emergency repairs, with minimal disruption to customers.
• Lead projects and supervise crews of varying skill levels, ensuring safety and productivity on job sites.
• Collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers.
• Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials and consumables needed for project completion.
• Monitor crew safety and productivity, taking action when conditions may impact performance or well-being.
• Foster a positive team environment and mentor junior technicians by sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with internal teams and clients.
• Ensure regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
• Electrical and mechanical experience with UPS systems, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson).
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
• Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
• Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
• Understanding of torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of installations.
• Ability to operate safely and use appropriate PPE, including arc-flash suits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• OSHA 30-hour certification, NFPA-70E Safety Training, and Thermography Level 2 or higher.
• US Citizenship required.
