D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Systems Engineer II, with a strong focus on Microsoft messaging and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Exchange. The right candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with business needs. The Systems Engineer II actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within DR Horton Inc. This role is ideal for a Systems Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft Exchange administration operating within an enterprise environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Serves as subject matter expert for any current/new technology or application implementation within the organization, including Microsoft Exchange and related messagin services.
• Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, virtualization, and enterprise messaging platforms (Microsoft Exchange)
• Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
• Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, including issues realted to Exchange (mail flow, availbility, and performance) prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
• Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
• Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
• Implement automation of task leveraging PowerShell, including adminstration and reporting for Exchange and Microsoft 365 services
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to management and internal customers
• Work with cross-functional project teams to implement highly available solutions
• Ability to travel overnight

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Seven to ten years of server administration experience, including Microsoft Exchange environments
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems
• Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell
• Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V or equivalent
• Experience with designing and building Hyper V virtualization environments and Terminal server farms
• Strong PowerShell scripting experience, preferably in Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments
• Experience working on Linux based infrastructure
• Previous experience providing system administration in an IT environment
• Working knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCP/IP and DNS, particularly as they relate to Exchange mail flow and name resolution
• Experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
• Experience working on a matrix team consisting of a variety of Operation groups, as well as Development groups

• Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field preferred
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 Online Tenant (Exchange, PowerApps), with hands on responsibillity for Exchange Online (mailboxes, connectors, transport, rules, hybrid configurations)
• Experience with Exchange hybrid deployments, migrations, or coexistence scenarios preferred.
• System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other related fields are a plus
