Payroll Specialist

Our client's team is passionate about delivering high-quality, ethically-sourced organic products to their customers. They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their growing team.

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing and processing the company’s payroll operations. This role requires ensuring accurate and timely payroll distribution, compliance with federal and state regulations and maintaining payroll records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, excellent organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of employee information.

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

• Accurately process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, including salary, hourly and temporary staff
• Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Review and verify timesheets, attendance records and other related documentation
• Stay current with federal, state and local payroll regulations and ensure compliance
• Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and payments
• Assist with the preparation of year-end documents, including W-2s and 1099s
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and documentation
• Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies
• Manage direct deposits, wage garnishments, benefits deductions and other payroll-related transactions
• Work closely with the HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless payroll integration
• Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation
• Support other accounting and HR functions as needed

Payroll Specialist Requirements:

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience at minimum
• Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP WorkForce Now, Paylocity, etc.)
• Excellent understanding of payroll practices, tax laws and regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
• CPP a plus
