Environmental Scientist
Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Compliance Team to support a variety of environmental compliance projects. This full-time position is based in Austin, Texas and will travel to project locations throughout the United States.
The Environmental Scientist is expected to support and lead a variety of projects, working both independently and as part of a team. An experienced multi-disciplinary background is valued for this position. You will plan and execute technical projects, conduct regulatory research, write reports, support permitting process, conduct site visits and surveys, and collaborate with a team, while remaining flexible to prioritize clients' needs and deadlines.
This position requires traveling on average one week per month for fieldwork and site visits, with durations of 3 to 12 days on site. The field work can include working indoors, outdoors, and/or industrial locations, and wearing Level D PPE.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. Master's degree, Professional Engineer, and/or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience in multiple environmental compliance program areas, including but not limited to SPCCP, SWPPP, MS4, hazardous materials/EPCRA, hazardous waste/RCRA, storage tanks, air programs, and/or environmental auditing.
- Working knowledge of federal environmental compliance programs. Knowledge and experience with Texas state environmental compliance is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, writing skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and be responsive.
- Flexibility to serve in multiple roles and teams depending on the client and project.
- Must be able to pass DoD security clearances and background checks.
- US citizenship required.
Knowledge and Experience
- The position requires experience with multiple federal and state environmental compliance regulatory areas, with a focus in one or more programs: environmental compliance auditing and inspections, Environmental Management Systems; Clean Water Act compliance, including stormwater and wastewater permitting, planning and compliance, petroleum, oil, and lubricant experience with spill prevention and response, SPCCP, and/or above ground storage tank management and inspections, air permitting, data collection, air program management, RCRA hazardous waste management, hazardous material management, EPCRA, or toxins.
- Experience in preparing and writing environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports, and conducting environmental compliance assessments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Experience in providing environmental project support to clients, including conducting site visits as needed. Work experience with federal government agencies, Department of Defense, and state environmental agencies. Experience with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is a plus.
- Relevant environmental and technical certifications and trainings are a plus.
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience , and bonuses are offered for exceptional performance.
