Supplier Quality Engineering Manager

Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineering Manager tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross-functional implementation to improve performance of suppliers and key components by implementing process controls and quality assurance plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of the Quality Management System with special emphasis on the Supplier Management System.
- Contribute to new business initiatives/projects and review/communicate the impact on Supplier Quality Activities.
- Lead supplier development strategy, designing the metrics for the function and supplier performance.
- Work with cross functional teams to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.
- Create, issue, monitor and assure completion and effectiveness of Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
- Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
- Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
- Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI's, supplier escapes, DPPM and waste.
- Provide leadership in identifying, articulating, and resolving supplier problems related to First Article Inspections, line rejects, and warranty.
- Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Supplier Quality team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Lead incoming inspection area, inspectors, documents, and workflow, being responsible to elaborate, update and coordinate incoming inspection plans.
- Liaison between supplier and FBD by participating in and approving/rejecting drawing reviews, design reviews, reliability assessments, factory testing, process, and supplier capabilities.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Must have 3+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with drawing interpretation and the use of measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gage.
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred, but not required.
- Experience with IFS or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems preferred, but not required.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Travel expected to be up to 25%.
- Must have excellent communication skills because of daily contact with internal employees and suppliers.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and a reference check .
Physical Demands:
- Required to sit, type, have eye/hand foot coordination, occasionally stand, walk, lift, carry, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- This position works in a typical office, manufacturing, and lab environment.
- Clarity of vision including the ability to appropriately differentiate colors.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $103,000.00 - $129,000.00 per year
