Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRPS Must-Have: - Travel experience required - Previous Charge Experience preferred - Experience with patient ratios: Labor 1:2, Antepartum 1:3, Mother/Baby 1:3 - Proficiency in Epic charting system required Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. The shift is three 12-hour night shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in Labor and Delivery. Travel experience is mandatory. Candidates should have certifications in ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRPS. The nurse will be responsible for administering blood and blood products, performing amnioinfusion, and providing antepartum care. Understanding of anticoagulation therapy and antihypertensives is essential. The role includes assisting with high-risk deliveries and performing sterile speculum exams. Nurses will assist with both vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including circulating for C-sections. Post-operative care, including episiotomy/incisional care and discharge teaching to parents, is required. The nurse must be able to draw venous blood and manage IV conscious sedation. Epidural anesthesia administration is also part of the responsibilities. Candidates should have experience in managing postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Training in lactation support and car seat education is beneficial. The nurse will participate in the assessment of newborns, including recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. Experience with patient triage and the use of external and internal fetal monitoring is necessary. Maintaining central lines and placing intrauterine pressure catheters is expected in this role. The unit will typically care for a daily census of up to 14 patients. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and pharmacy, is essential for patient care. This position may require weekend coverage. Travelers residing in specific counties will not be contracted for this position.
