Accounting Controls Manager

Work with both financial and other functional groups within McLane to manage, enhance or implement process controls. Ensure adherence to company policy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Provide an analytical review of critical data used in making decisions, which impact the overall profitability and success of the business unit. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Monitor various inventory reporting and statistics, including aged inventory, reserves, and inventory write-offs, to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Review and monitor key performance indicators.
- Prepare assigned period reporting on a timely basis.
- Perform quarterly balance sheet review, focusing on high-risk accounts.
- Assist Operations (DC, Ops Support, RVP's) with accounting-related controls and issues.
- Act as accounting liaison for major system implementations.
- Provide support on internal audits. Coordinate/Manage internal auditors as needed on various audit initiatives.
- Organize, direct, and implement various accounting projects.
- Recommend, develop, and implement accounting processes that bring automation, accuracy in reporting, and the ability to monitor business processes within the business unit.
- Monitor compliance to GAAP, Sarbanes/Oxley (SOX) controls, and other internal policies and best practices - to ensure a high level of consistency in the data as well as ensuring that McLane is compliant with all defined standards.
- Monitor, evaluate, and provide continuous improvement and ownership to key internal systems to ensure they meet or exceed the user's expectation and purpose for which they were created.
- Assist in the review, revision, and/or creation of accounting policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree with a major or primary emphasis in accounting, CPA preferred.
- 5 or more years' experience, preferably in the restaurant/foodservice industry.
- 3 or more years' experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Working knowledge of various McLane operating systems.
- Able to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner.
- Able to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
