Job Title: Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist

Location: SE Houston, TX

Compensation: $26 - $27 / hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our finance team in SE Houston. This role is responsible for managing customer invoicing, cash application, collections efforts, and account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate receipt of payments. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience working within accounting systems, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal departments to resolve billing issues.

Key Responsibilities

Invoicing & Billing

• Generate and issue accurate customer invoices based on contracts, job details, or supporting documentation
• Submit invoices through customer portals, email, or other required platforms
• Ensure billing is completed accurately and within established timelines
• Maintain organized records of invoices and supporting documentation

Cash Application

• Post and apply customer payments including ACH, wire transfers, checks, and credit card transactions
• Ensure payments are accurately applied to the appropriate customer accounts and invoices
• Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments

Collections & Account Management

• Monitor AR aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
• Contact customers via phone and email regarding past-due invoices
• Maintain strong customer relationships while enforcing payment terms
• Document collection activity and customer communications in internal systems

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Perform account reconciliations and resolve customer account discrepancies
• Assist with AR subledger reconciliation and month-end close activities
• Prepare AR reports and provide updates on account status as needed

Administrative & Accounting Support

• Maintain accurate and organized financial records
• Support the accounting team with reporting and documentation requests
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
• Assist with identifying opportunities to improve AR processes and efficiency

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts receivable, billing, or collections experience preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
• Strong Excel skills (data entry, basic formulas; pivot tables a plus)
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
