This position is responsible for safely operating and driving industrial vehicles, equipment and materials to and from designated work locations; types of vehicles include straight trucks (Air Machine). Safely operate equipment on trucks, and assist teams in performing work at job site, which may include operating vacuuming truck to clean plastic spills, equipment, facilities. Work is usually performed at Chemical sites including production plants.
- Perform job duties in a safe manner compliant with policies, procedures and practices.
- MUST be able to operate a manual transmission
- Comply with DOT (Department of Transportation), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), industry, state and local government regulations.
- Safely drive, maneuver and operate commercial vehicles and equipment.
- Inspect work order and shipping paperwork, verify for accuracy.
- Load plastic/resin onto truck; ensure correct equipment is present to safely perform job.
- Perform jobs tasks which may include: Safely use manual tools (rack, water hoses) to remove materials; prepare, properly attached and operate hoses on vacuum trucks; safely operate.
- Inspect equipment (including pre-check and post-check equipment protocols) including lights, hoses, equipment connections, and pumps; ensure deficiencies are correct equipment or replaced to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain, complete and submit appropriate paper work and reports timely as required including: travel logs, time sheets and, maintenance documents.
- Maintain a safe, neat and clean work environment, this includes: work area and equipment.
- Model professional behavior at all times; report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to work.
- Comply with appearance and dress policies to ensure a safe and professional work environment.
- Wear personnel protective equipment (PPE) as defined by policy, regulations, practice, and customer
- Work flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Work effectively in team environment and provide support and assistance.
- Commitment to promoting and creating a safety culture and positive work environment
- Valid Driver’s License.
- CDL Class A or B (Class A preferred and may be required for certain positions).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Read and understand instructions/signs/directions in English.
- Pass drug screen, physical and safety sensitive background check.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Work effectively in a team environment that is dynamic, with diverse employee populations.
- Wear required personnel protective equipment including; gloves, respirators, safety glasses, foot protection and hard hat
- Lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Sit periodically and for extended periods of time; climb ladders and stairs, reach below knees and above shoulders; kneel and crawl to access work areas.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop; reach forward and grasp for periods of time.
- Balance while walking on wet and slick surfaces, metal grates, narrow platforms, and uneven surfaces.
- Work in loud, cold, hot, wet and dry environments; both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.
- Enter and exit industrial vehicles and equipment without assistance.
