About the Role

AJR Media Group manages TourTexas.com and TourLouisiana.com — regional tourism publishing platforms that connect travelers with destinations, events, and experiences across the South. We're preparing for a full website overhaul, and that starts with the content. Enter: you, our mysterious and extremely talented intern.

The Editorial & Marketing Intern will be the trusty sidekick in a large content optimization project. You’ll work directly with our Lead Writer to go through the websites page-by-page. The process involves working with structured data (schema), on-page SEO/GEO, basic copy editing, link auditing, and fact-checking, among other things.

If you’re interested in getting your foot in the door of writing, editing, marketing, or even journalism, this internship will help you hone those skills, get real-world experience, and fill in the white space on that resume of yours.

Compensation: $17-$20 per hour based on experience

What Will You Be Doing?

• Writing JSON-LD schema markup for articles and destination pages
• Writing alt text for images across the site
• Auditing links for accuracy, broken URLs, and low-quality destinations
• Copy editing
• Verifying business information (hours, addresses, open/closed status) against live sources
• Supporting GEO and SEO content optimization
• Basic image editing (cropping, resizing, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Communication Studies, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
• Strong writing and proofreading skills
• Strong creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer literacy (in other words, you should already know how to resize images, read HTML, troubleshoot common problems, the difference between file formats, etc.)
• Familiarity using AI tools like Claude as part of a workflow (not to write content, but to accelerate monotonous tasks)
• Enjoy traveling (these are travel websites, after all)
