Job Summary:
Servers at District 1 The Claw & Lounge are responsible for delivering exceptional guest service, accurately taking and delivering food and beverage orders, maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas, and upholding all restaurant policies and standards. Servers are expected to work efficiently, professionally, and as part of a team to ensure a positive guest experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
- Greet guests promptly and courteously.
- Explain menu items, specials, and promotions accurately.
- Take food and beverage orders correctly using the POS system.
- Deliver food and drinks in a timely and professional manner.
- Check on guests regularly and resolve minor concerns immediately.
- Thank guests and invite them to return.
Food & Beverage Responsibilities:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Serve alcohol responsibly and verify valid ID for alcohol service.
- Do not over-serve guests; follow all Texas alcohol laws.
- Communicate special requests or allergies clearly to the kitchen.
Cash Handling & POS:
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system.
- Handle cash, credit cards, and tips responsibly.
- Report any POS issues, shortages, or mistakes immediately.
- Never alter time punches or checks without manager approval.
Cleanliness & Side Work:
- Complete all assigned opening, running, and closing side work.
- Keep tables, floors, stations, and restrooms clean.
- Assist with resetting tables and maintaining dining room appearance.
- Follow all cleaning checklists as assigned.
Teamwork & Conduct:
- Work cooperatively with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management.
- Follow all instructions from management promptly.
- Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
- No arguing with guests, coworkers, or management.
- No cell phone use while serving guests.
Attendance & Reliability:
- Arrive on time and prepared for every scheduled shift.
- Follow proper call-in procedures for absences.
- No call / no show may result in disciplinary action or termination.
- Leaving a shift without manager approval is prohibited.
Qualifications:
- Restaurant serving experience preferred (not required).
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
