Program Management – Project Accountant

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Project Accountant to support a nationwide logistics program. This individual will lead key accounting activities and provide financial oversight for more than 366 project locations. In this role, the Project Accountant will work closely with operations teams to ensure all accounting functions and procedures are efficient, accurate, and aligned with project goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate measurable outcomes that translate into value-added financial solutions for our clients within this high-impact program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive project financial objectives by providing analysis, implementing processes, and ensuring responsive accounting support across all project locations.
• Manage and report on accounting functions for 366 active sites, ensuring timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial records.
• Contribute to project accounting strategies by delivering financial insights, supporting decision-making, and aligning accounting processes with operational priorities.
• Establish and refine operational accounting strategies by evaluating financial trends, developing KPIs, optimizing systems, and improving productivity, quality, and client service.
• Prepare and coordinate financial projections, budgets, and forecasts by consolidating inputs and advising departments on effective data collection and analysis.
• Forecast cash requirements to maintain sufficient working capital and ensure timely payments and funding.
• Support tax compliance by understanding regulations, recommending tax strategies, and assisting with filings as needed.
• Perform month-end closings and generate all required internal and external financial reports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (BS/BA)
• 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or program accounting role
• Experience managing both accounts payable and receivable
• Proficient in accounting systems such as Timberline, Timberscan, PM Web, Prism , or similar
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills; capable of handling large data sets and high transaction volumes
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and project financial controls
• Strong project management and communication skills
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
