About the Role:
The Early Head Start Teacher plays a critical role in fostering the developmental growth and well-being of infants and toddlers in a nurturing and educational environment. This position is dedicated to implementing a comprehensive curriculum that supports cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in children from birth to age three. The teacher collaborates closely with families to create individualized learning plans that respect each child's unique needs and cultural background. Additionally, the role involves ongoing observation and assessment to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly. Ultimately, the Early Head Start Teacher contributes to laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success by promoting early childhood development in a supportive and inclusive setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in an educational or caregiving setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet health and safety requirements as mandated by the Early Head Start program.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid for infants and young children.
- Experience working within the Early Head Start or Head Start programs.
- Bilingual abilities to support diverse family populations.
- Training in trauma-informed care or special needs early intervention.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote growth in all developmental domains for infants and toddlers.
- Conduct regular observations and assessments to track each child's progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Engage and collaborate with families to support their involvement in their child's learning and development, providing resources and guidance as needed.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and stimulating classroom environment that complies with all Early Head Start program standards and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings to stay current with best practices in early childhood education and program requirements.

The Early Head Start Teacher utilizes strong observational and assessment skills daily to monitor each child's developmental milestones and tailor educational activities accordingly. Effective communication skills are essential for building trusting relationships with families and collaborating with colleagues to support holistic child development.
