Back-End Engineer

Our client is seeking a back-end engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable services that power a global commerce platform. The role centers on Node.js or Java development, RESTful APIs, and integrations with Shopify and related e-commerce capabilities. You will focus on reliability, performance, and transactional integrity while collaborating within an agile, cross-functional team. Your work will enable secure monetization flows and integration with cloud and CI/CD practices.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $70.00 to $80.00/hr. w2

• Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services using Node.js and/or Java.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs that support commerce and integration needs.
• Integrate services with Shopify and related e-commerce components.
• Ensure system scalability, performance, reliability, and observability.
• Support transactional and monetization workflows with a focus on data integrity.
• Collaborate within agile, cross-functional teams to deliver iterative value.
• Leverage relational databases and optimize queries for Oracle or SQL-based systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and operate services in cloud environments.

• Strong back-end development experience in Node.js and/or Java.
• Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs.
• Experience supporting transactional or monetization systems.
• Understanding of scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle or SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• E-commerce systems experience, including payment gateways and invoicing (preferred).
• Experience with Shopify integrations (preferred).
