Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Maintains the general ledger for daily accounting transactions and reconciliations.
- Codes invoices, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses discrepancies in payments for AP and AR transactions.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Manages accounts receivable collections to comply with the company credit policies.
- Ensures all accounting deadlines are met within the accounting team for on-time delivery of monthly close.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Processes daily cash receipts and ensures proper posting to client accounts.
- Provides internal auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Maintains knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Accounting Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- At least 5 years of related experience required
- 10+ years’ experience in leading an accounting office or bookkeeping role accepted in lieu of degree
- Experience in multi-disciplined accounting required
- Experience with multi-ledger departmental coding required
- In-depth experience with balance sheet journals and accounting processes preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to GAAP
- Proficient in MS Office suite software and ERP accounting software programs
