Onboarding Specialist
Position Title : Onboarding Specialist
Location: Houston, TX
Assignment Type: 6-month contract
Compensation : $25 - $32/ hr
Work Schedul e: Monday–Friday, 8-5 pm
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision,
and 401(k).
About the Role
This position blends HR generalist responsibilities with a heavy focus on high‑volume onboarding, compliance, and employee support . You’ll play a key role in shaping the new‑hire experience, supporting leaders with day‑to‑day HR needs, and keeping processes compliant and efficient across the organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
HR & Employee Support
- Act as a trusted HR partner, advising leaders and employees on policies, procedures, performance, and employee relations
- Support internal moves, job changes, and employee data updates
- Maintain accurate HRIS and employee records
- Assist with audits, compliance initiatives, and HR process improvements
Relocation & Special Projects
- Coordinate domestic and international relocations as needed
- Support HR projects, special initiatives, and cross‑functional collaboration
Onboarding & Pre‑Employment
- Own the end‑to‑end onboarding process—from offer acceptance through first day
- Manage onboarding workflows and documentation
- Create and deliver new‑hire orientation materials and training
- Partner with IT and internal teams to coordinate access, equipment, and systems
- Ensure new hire data is accurate across HR and payroll systems
Compliance & Drug Testing Programs
- Serve as point person for drug & alcohol testing programs (DOT & non‑DOT)
- Coordinate pre‑employment, random, post‑incident, and other testing events
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and third‑party audit requirements
Recruiting Partnership
- Support recruiting teams with onboarding coordination and high‑volume hiring efforts
- Maintain headcount, staffing, and onboarding reports
- Act as a go‑to resource for candidates and new hires during onboarding
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in HR, onboarding, or HR operations
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance best practices
- Experience supporting high‑volume or distributed workforces
- Hands‑on experience with HRIS systems (UKG strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and drug‑testing protocols is a big plus
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and strong follow‑through
- Certifications such as SHRM‑CP/PHR are preferred (or in progress).
