Pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Position Overview: We are seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our collaborative team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will provide direct therapy services to children with a variety of gross motor and mobility needs. The ideal candidate has a passion for working with children and a desire to make therapy both effective and enjoyable.
Key Responsibilities:
Therapy Implementation
- Deliver hands-on therapy interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Assist in executing individualized treatment plans to address children’s gross motor, coordination, and mobility goals.
- Use play-based techniques to engage children and promote optimal outcomes.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Communicate regularly with the supervising PT regarding patient progress, challenges, and adaptations to the care plan.
- Coordinate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other clinicians for a holistic approach to patient care.
Family Education & Interaction
- Provide parents/caregivers with home exercise programs and practical strategies to reinforce therapy goals outside the clinic.
- Offer empathetic support and clear explanations regarding each child’s progress.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately record session data, progress notes, and updates in patient records.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, clinic policies, and professional standards.
Professional Development
- Stay informed about best practices in pediatric physical therapy and participate in ongoing training opportunities.
- Attend team meetings and collaborate on treatment planning for shared patients.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
- Current Texas PTA license or eligibility for licensure.
- Previous pediatric experience (clinical rotation, internship, or professional) preferred.
- Comfortable with play-based and creative therapeutic approaches.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with children and families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to see children succeed.
