janitor

As a Janitor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our buildings and grounds are well-kept and ready for daily operations and special events. Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash from all areas of the facility.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies as needed.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to safety guidelines.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as required.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Clean laboratory equipment using solvents, brushes, and power cleaning equipment.
- Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
- Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking for potential hazards.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, using manual or powered equipment.
- Clear debris from building grounds and surrounding areas.
- Notify management of the need for major repairs or additions to building systems.
- Request supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Set up and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
- Apply insecticides and fumigants to prevent pest infestations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred.
- Familiarity with cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals responsibly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 25 pounds, and move heavy objects as needed.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
