Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

D.H. Griffin Companies is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team in the Houston, TX area. As a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy equipment, ensuring the safety and longevity of our fleet. Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance checks on company-owned and/or leased vehicles and equipment
• Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate vehicle/equipment parts as necessary
• Examine and repair hydraulic components for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, or worn gaskets
• Travel to job sites to make repairs to heavy equipment as necessary
• Use diagnostic devices to identify components in need of adjustment or repair
• Rebuild or replace engines, repair hydraulic fluid pumps, and correct electrical problems as needed
• Work in various environments, including hot and cold temperatures
• Complete repair orders and use e-log/log book
• This position may require extended travel periods.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years job-related experience
• Knowledge of small engine equipment, such as generators and compressors (preferred)
• Experience with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, suspension, and brake systems
• Knowledge of heavy equipment parts and performance requirements, including hydraulics
• Advanced education or training in electronic computerized diagnostic systems and equipment (preferred)
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend service manuals
• Proficient in using hand and power tools, welding and flame cutting equipment
• Valid driver's license and safe driving habits
