Director of People, Corporate Shared Services

National Veterinary Associates
Austin, TX

Job Summary

The Director of People Services - Corporate Shared Services is a trusted advisor to the CHRO and partnering closely with C suite executives and NVA group leaders to drive enterprise people strategy, organizational effectiveness, and leadership capability. This role operates at both a strategic and tactical level, blending deep HR expertise with strong business acumen, executive presence, and exceptional communication skills.

In addition to traditional HRBP responsibilities, this role serves as a key thought partner to the Chief People Officer (CPO), supporting organizational design, workforce strategy, enterprise initiatives, developing executive-level presentations, board-ready materials, and strategic decks that translate people strategy into clear, compelling narratives.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, resourceful, critical thinker who thrives in high-visibility environments, builds trusting relationships, executes on deliverables, enjoys building strategy and is comfortable operating in the room where decisions are made.

Key Responsibilities

CPO Partnership:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CHRO and corporate C-suite leaders on people strategy, organizational health, and leadership effectiveness
  • Act as an extension of the CPO—anticipating needs, shaping narratives, and driving follow-through on enterprise priorities
  • Help prepare executive briefings, talking points, board-level decks, and presentations that align the people strategy with business outcomes

Organizational Design & Strategy:

  • Partner with senior leaders to design and evolve organizational structures aligned to strategy, scale, and future-state operating models
  • Translate strategy into workforce plans, talent implications, and change roadmaps
  • Advise on succession planning, leadership pipelines, and critical role readiness

People Business Partnership:

  • Provide end-to-end people support for corporate leaders and teams, including performance management, talent reviews, engagement, employee relations, and change management
  • Coach senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and navigating complex people challenges
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence (Talent, Total Rewards, DEI, L&D, HR Operations) to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions
  • Ensure consistent application of people programs while tailoring approaches for executive and corporate populations
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to talent, engagement, culture, and leadership capability
  • Lead and support enterprise change initiatives, ensuring thoughtful change management and leader enablement
  • Champion culture, values, and leadership behaviors across corporate teams
  • Partner with leaders to drive engagement, accountability, and organizational effectiveness

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in HRBP or director-level HR leadership roles
  • Proven experience supporting C-suite executives and enterprise-level leaders
  • Strong background talent management, and leadership development, HR business partnership and employee engagement
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build executive-ready decks and presentations
  • High level of business acumen and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Ability to influence without authority and build trust at the most senior levels
  • Strong analytical and storytelling capabilities—able to connect people data to business impact
