Engineering Program Manager

What to Expect The Role: This role leads the design & engineering of the most advanced Tesla factories on Earth at record speed. You are key member of the factory engineering team that drives the end-to-end design & engineering for factory infrastructure development. You are able to synthesize complex, ambiguous requirements into scope/ inputs that engineering and construction teams can design and build to. You are able to conduct technical deep dives into layout designs, infrastructure system & distribution selections and ensure factory development is adhering to Tesla's core principles. You are able to build trust and consensus amongst cross functional teams to achieve objectives under high stakes while maintaining positive team environment. You are able to toggle between understanding program objectives & dependencies and also deep dive into specific factory development topics/issues. You are able to communicate & influence a wide range of staff from senior to junior staff as well as technical and non-technical staff. What You'll Do - Responsible for leading the full design & engineering of Tesla facilities from concept to production launch
- Gathers and develops a deep understanding of stakeholder requirements
- Champions & embodies Tesla core principles & ensures project teams do as well
- Defines & effectively communicates factory design scope & prioritization for factory engineering team
- Scope & implement innovative engineering and design strategies to support aggressive program objectives
- Own execution of high-quality engineering deliverables for needed for procurement, costing, permitting, and construction and owns factory development program schedule
- Leads factory engineering technical deep dives & options analysis and supports technical studies such as feasibility and value engineering exercises
- Own cross-functional design reviews (2D & 3D) and supports funding requests with broader project team
- Serve as main factory engineering point of contact for construction team during construction phase
- Proactively identifies and drives continuous improvement of factory engineering development
What You'll Bring - B.S. in engineering or equivalent
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams within Architectural/Engineering firms
- Full understanding of all engineering disciplines and ability to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources
- Proven record in delivery of IFB, IFP and IFC packages
- Experience designing manufacturing facilities, healthcare, Laboratory, High-end office, and site infrastructure development
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan
- Pre-Construction Project Management experience is a plus
