CLASSIFICATION: Negotiating Department Coordinator
SALARY GRADE: 7 (Non-Exempt/APSEA)
HIRING DIRECTOR: Mark R. Myers, Director of Pilot Negotiations and Contract Administration
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree and five years of administrative support experience; or bachelor's degree or higher with three years of administrative support experience
- Paralegal experience or certificate a plus
- Minimum five (5) years' experience as an administrative professional required (without a bachelor's degree), preferably in a legal office or in a union or labor or employment law setting; experience within the aviation industry is helpful but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES
- A) 40% of time - Coordinates with more senior staff to perform administrative tasks within the department, as well as APA departments and committees supported by the department, including but not limited to, general office support, tasks supporting the implementation and management of the collective bargaining agreement, organizing and preparing documents, maintaining knowledge management protocols, providing note taking when needed during bargaining sessions and other meetings with the Company as well as during internal APA meetings, preparation of accurate and detailed meeting notes and summaries, general support of APA collective bargaining efforts, maintenance of historical documents and activity trackers, and participation in department meetings. Primary note taker for Contract Compliance Committee/AA call reviews (enforcement meetings).
- B) 40% of time - Coordinates the administration of the Negotiating Department, including coordinating office equipment and supplies; drafting departmental memos, correspondence, and other documents for staff, National Officers, Board of Directors, Committee members, and other APA Departments; managing resources; intake and phone monitoring; providing substantive responses to pilot questions (when able); handling special projects; coordination of and logistical support to department meetings, trainings, and travel; management of department schedules; and coordination of other department administrative and logistical needs.
- C) 5% of time - Supports department research efforts related to labor law, employment law, negotiating, FAA decisions, APA statutory compliance, history of party bargaining, and other topics specific to AA or APA, and compose research summaries. Conduct investigative research on various topics as needed.
- D) 5% of time - Assists the in-house attorneys and outside counsel in preparing and processing of grievances and arbitrations. When necessary, manage documents for APA outside litigation cases and coordinate with assigned counsel regarding discovery and other projects.
- E) 10% of time - Other duties as assigned by the Director of Pilot Negotiations and Contract Administration or the Senior Director for Legal Affairs.
This full-time position is located at APA headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.
