CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: San Antonio, TX 78229
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel RN
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Shift Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A)
• Start Date: August 28, 2025
• End Date: November 27, 2025
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
• Call Requirement: None
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1460 - $1500

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license (no temporary licenses)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or CVICU nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring (swans, arterial lines)
• Experience with ventilator management
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to float to other critical care units as needed
• Preferred: Experience with IABP, CRRT, and Meditech charting system

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in a fast-paced CVICU setting
• Monitor and manage advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
• Care for post-CABG, post-VAD, and post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Accurately document patient care using the Meditech electronic health record system
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Adhere to hospital policies, including dress code (navy scrubs), attendance, and floating guidelines
• Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with hospital standards (hair, nails, tattoos, piercings per policy)
